The Malta Citizenship Investment Scheme known as the Malta Individual Investor Program (MIIP) is aimed at applicants that are looking to obtain a European Union passport in the shortest amount of time.
The total process usually takes 10 to 12 months whereby our citizenship experts take care of your application every step of the way. Individual applicants are required to make a minimum contribution of €650,000 to the national development fund set up by the government, invest €150,000 in government approved financial instruments and commit to a residence in Malta, that can either be rented or purchased for a minimum of 5 years.
The property value to purchased real estate must be a minimum of €350,000. For a rental property it is a commitment of €16,000 per year. If you wish to apply with other family members they must also contribute a sum to the development fund of €25,000 each.
According to the global passport index the Maltese passport is currently ranked at number 4 in the world in terms of travel freedom. The index ranks 199 passports and takes into account 219 travel destinations. Individuals are able to hold a second passport and can travel to 182 countries visa free.
